What Is Culi Coffee?
Culi is not a separate coffee species. In Vietnam, the name is commonly used for peaberry coffee beans.
Normally, a coffee cherry develops two flat-sided beans. With a peaberry, only one bean develops inside the cherry, giving it a more rounded shape.
MR AKA Culi is 100% Culi Robusta from Dak Lak, carefully selected and roasted in small batches in Phu Quoc.
How Is Culi Different from Regular Robusta?
Culi keeps the main characteristics of Robusta: full body, clear coffee intensity, pronounced bitterness and relatively low acidity.
The main difference is the bean itself. Culi is made only from the naturally rounded peaberry beans separated from regular coffee beans.
At MR AKA, we roast Culi separately so we can control the roast specifically for this type of bean and preserve its distinctive Robusta character.
From Dak Lak to Phu Quoc
Our Culi Robusta comes from Dak Lak, one of Vietnam’s best-known coffee-growing regions.
After selection, the beans are brought to Phu Quoc, where MR AKA roasts them in small batches.
We roast without added flavoring, focusing on preserving the natural strength, body and character of Vietnamese Culi Robusta.
How to Enjoy Culi Coffee
Culi Robusta works especially well with brewing methods that emphasize body, strength and coffee intensity.
It is well suited to Vietnamese Phin, espresso, moka pot, Turkish coffee and French press.
One of the most characteristic ways to enjoy Culi is Vietnamese-style coffee with condensed milk. The full-bodied Robusta character works well with the sweetness of condensed milk, while the coffee remains clear and noticeable in the cup.
