Vietnamese Liberica Coffee from Lam Dong

MR AKA
Limited production. Distinctive character. Freshly roasted in Phu Quoc.
What Is Liberica Coffee?
Liberica is a distinct coffee species, different from Arabica and Robusta in its plant characteristics and the character it produces in the cup.
In Vietnam, Liberica is commonly known as Cà phê Mít, or “Jackfruit Coffee.” This is a traditional Vietnamese name and does not mean that jackfruit flavor or any artificial flavoring is added to the coffee.
MR AKA Liberica is 100% Vietnamese Liberica from Lam Dong, roasted in small batches in Phu Quoc.
What Makes Liberica Different?
Liberica is produced in much smaller quantities in Vietnam than Robusta or Arabica.
Because production is limited, the beans in each lot can be less uniform in size and appearance. The Liberica beans used by MR AKA are also smaller than those in our other coffee lines, so we do not judge this coffee by how perfectly uniform the beans look.
What makes Liberica interesting is something different: it offers a distinctive character and a different coffee experience from the more familiar Arabica and Robusta.
If Arabica is appreciated for cleanliness and balance, Robusta for strength and full body, and Moka for aroma, Liberica stands out for its individuality and unusual character.
From Lam Dong to Phu Quoc

Our Liberica comes from Lam Dong, one of Vietnam’s coffee-growing regions.
Because production is relatively limited, the appearance and size of the beans may vary more from one lot to another than with our other coffees.
After selection, the beans are brought to Phu Quoc, where MR AKA roasts them in small batches.
We roast without added flavoring, allowing the natural character of Vietnamese Liberica to remain at the center of the cup.
How to Enjoy Liberica Coffee
Liberica is especially interesting when prepared as Pour Over or Cold Brew.
With Pour Over, the cup feels cleaner and lighter, making it easier to explore the distinctive character of Liberica.
With Cold Brew, the coffee becomes smoother and more even in perception, revealing a very different side of the bean compared with hot brewing.
Liberica can also be prepared with Vietnamese Phin, French press, espresso, moka pot or Turkish coffee.
The right grind size depends on the brewing method. At MR AKA, we first ask how you usually prepare your coffee, then help you choose a suitable grind.
